Twitch
Single video stream
To send a single H.264 video stream, use the Twitch broadcasting recommendations. This table does not describe automatically configured Enhanced Broadcasting.
| Resolution | FPS | Recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1920×1080 | 60 | 6000 Kbps |
| 1920×1080 | 30 | 4500 Kbps |
| 1280×720 | 60 | 4500 Kbps |
| 1280×720 | 30 | 3000 Kbps |
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Rate control | CBR |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds |
| H.264 profile | Main or High |
| Audio | AAC-LC, stereo or mono |
| Audio bitrate | 96 Kbps recommended, 160 Kbps maximum |
6000 Kbps is the recommendation for 1080p60. These guidelines do not establish an “8000 for partners, 6000 for everyone else” rule.
Multitrack video
Enhanced Broadcasting lets you send multiple versions of the same video to Twitch with different resolutions and bitrates. Viewers select an available quality in the player.
With Twitch transcoding mode, StreamVi handles this:
Broadcast software → one source stream to StreamVi → multiple quality variants on StreamVi servers → Twitch.
StreamVi automatically determines the resolutions, codecs and bitrates of the output quality variants. Your computer encodes and sends one source stream. StreamVi prepares and delivers the additional variants, so you do not need to encode them on your computer or upload them through your internet connection.
Enhanced Broadcasting is available to all streamers. Broadcasting in 1440p on Twitch requires Affiliate or Partner status, as described in Twitch's stream quality guidance.
1440p
In its 2K Enhanced Broadcasting update, Twitch lists these bitrates for individual output video tracks:
| Resolution | Codec | Video bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 2560×1440 | HEVC | 9000 Kbps |
| 1920×1080 | H.264 | 7500 Kbps |
These values apply to individual quality variants in 2K Enhanced Broadcasting. They are not a general Twitch limit, the combined bitrate of all tracks or source stream settings for sending video from OBS to StreamVi. Twitch mode selects output parameters automatically. Viewers in Russia
The quality available to a viewer can differ from the resolution sent by the streamer. If a viewer in Russia sees only 720p in the player, that alone does not mean you need to reduce the source stream sent to StreamVi to 720p.
StreamVi's Twitch mode sends multiple prepared quality variants to the platform. After starting the broadcast, check the Twitch player's quality menu from the viewer's region.
Russia is absent from Twitch's published list of regions with 1440p viewing. Sending 1440p does not guarantee that viewers in Russia can watch at that resolution. Quality availability also depends on the viewer's device and browser. StreamVi's mode does not guarantee removal of Twitch's regional restrictions.
